Simona Rapposelli graduated in 1999 at the Department of Pharmacy of the University of Pisa (Italy), with a major subject in Medicinal Chemistry.

In 2000, she received a grant  for a brief graduate research period working on the synthesis of bioactive compounds.

On 2003, she was awarded a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry.

Since the year 2003, Dr. Rapposelli has been a Researcher in Medicinal Chemistry at the Department of “Scienze Farmaceutiche” (Pharmaceutical Sciences), University of Pisa.

Since 2001 and up till 2006 she took part in three 2-years Research Projects of National Interest (PRIN) funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Scientific and Technological Research (MIUR).

In these funded research projects, she has actively participated both in the design and synthesis of new molecules.

In the period 2007-2008 she received a grant from “Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca” for the development of research programme entitled “Development of new molecules for the treatment of myocardial ischemia”.

Since 2007 she is Assistant Professor at the Department of Pharmacy, University of Pisa.

Since 2009 she is member of the Steering Committee of the Graduate School in "Science of Drugs and Bioactive Substances" at the University of Pisa.

She is a reviewer for publications on several prestigious peer-reviewed international scientific journals (i.e. Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, European Journal of medicinal chemistry, International Journal of medicinal chemistry, Expert opinion on Drug Metabolism & Toxicology, Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, The Open Biomarkers Journal ,Archiv der Pharmazie, Antioxidants and Redox Signaling, Current Topics in Medicinal Chemistry).
